IRAN’S military commander has warned that his country will ‘open the gates of Hell over Israel’ after the country retaliated to one of its fighter jets being shot down by Syrian forces.

Roji Kurd: The comments were made by the Lieutenant Commander of the country’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Brigadier General Hossein Salami.

He also threatened the United States, saying that his country had the military power to destroy all American bases in the region.

Taunting the US, he said they would be better “to leave the region before its defeat.”

Earlier today an Israeli F16 fighter jet was shot down after coming under fire from Syrian forces.

Yesterday the Israeli military reported that the jet had been brought down in the north of the country after a barrage of Syrian anti-aircraft fire.

Syrian state media said that they had opened fire after an Israeli act of “aggression”.

Syria’s military said that anti-aircraft guns had shot down the Israeli jet after Israel intercepted an Iranian drone launched from Syria, striking an Iranian target.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have confirmed that one pilot is in a serious condition after the crash.

A spokesman for Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said Syria’s response was “a clear warning to Israel. The era of Israeli strikes on Syria is over.”

Israel’s armed forces have responded by launching a large-scale assault on Syrian and Iranian targets in Syria.

A military source said: “12 targets, including three aerial defence batteries and four Iranian targets that are part of Iran’s military establishment in Syria, were attacked.”

Syrian forces loyal to President Assad have hit back, saying Israel will see a severe and serious response to its “terrorism” from now on.
