Turkish fighter jets on Wednesday carried out a series of airstrikes on Qandil mountainous areas of Kurdistan Region as part of their military campaign against Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
Locals from Warte subdistrict, northeast of Erbil province, confirmed hearing warplanes hovering over the area, followed by booming sound on the nearby mountains.
The airstrikes reportedly started at around 20:00 local time (17:00 GMT).
Damages and possible casualties remain unknown up to the moment.
