Turkish Jets Pound PKK Positions in Kurdistan Region

urkish fighter jets targeted Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) positions in Kurdistan Region in retaliation to the twin bomb blasts which targeted a group of police officers in Istanbul on Saturday.

Turkish military announced on Monday that its Air Force has shelled the PKK positions in the areas of Duhok province in the Kurdistan Region, Anadolu Agency reported on Monday.

The agency has reported that the Turkish war planes pounded the PKK positions on Sunday evening in Zap district in Amedi and Deraluk area of Duhok province.

The Turkish offensive was launched shortly after the so called Kurdish Freedom Falcons (TAK), which is seen as a PKK splinter group, claimed responsibility for the twin attacks that ripped through the heart of Istanbul on Saturday night, killing 38 people, mostly police officers.

The aerial strikes resulted in the destruction of a PKK headquarters, according to the Turkish army statement.
