Turkey Detains 120 HDP Members after Istanbul Attack

urkish police arrested 120 people from the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in raids across the country over allegations of links to Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

The Turkish police have detained at least 120 HDP members in Turkey following the terrorist attack which targeted the police officers in Istanbul, the Turkish media reported.

The campaign of detaining the HDP officials was launched after the so called Kurdish Freedom Falcons (TAK), which is seen as a PKK offshoot, claimed responsibility for the twin attacks that ripped through the heart of Istanbul on Saturday night, killing 44 people, mostly police officers.

Shortly after the claim, the Turkish fighter jets also launched an aerial attack against the PKK positions the Kurdistan Region which resulted in the destruction of a PKK headquarter, according to the Turkish army statement.

The co-leaders of HDP have already been jailed in Diyarbakir over alleged ties to PKK.
